Greece has been on my travel wish list for a while, and my first trip to the country was to the capital Athens. With everything that was happening with COVID 2020 by September, I wanted sun, a pool, coffee and lots of good food. Which Athens just ticked every box and I got to scratch the country off my scratch map. As always here are the places we went and the pretty pictures to go along with it.
Things to do
So many historic and stunning spots in Athens, it was honestly such an awe-inspiring trip. Honestly, my favourite site was the Panathenaic Stadium out of everything. It was massive and it was such a fun experience going onto the actual track and having a few runs. Although did highlight how much my cardio needs to improve.
Feel like the other tourist spots are amazing but it goes without saying. These are the other spots we went to:
Acropolis
Acropolis Museum
Parthenon
Temple of Zeus
Food
We ate goooooood, trust me. Kicking off the foodie recommendations with brunch spots, coffee at all of these is superb also:
ME kolonaki - Went for French Toast, but the eggs here also are super nice and there were a lot of other items on the menu which I could have easily picked.
IT - Went for the classic poached eggs and did not disappoint
The Rabbit Punch - I had a stack of pancakes and oh my days they were delicious, I was so full so doing it solo isn’t for the faint-hearted.
These are some other spots we went to for food:
DaVinci Gelato (Ice Cream)
ERGON House Athens (Lunch)
Hoocut (Gyros for Lunch)
Barbounaki (Fish for Dinner)
Coffee
Now I know you all have your favourite coffee orders. However. You must order a freddo coffee when in Greece. It’s a cold coffee but it isn’t an iced coffee. It’s a delicious thing and just trust me on this. Freddo Flat White was my favourite.
The Rabbit Punch
Peek a bloom
Taf coffee
ME kolonaki

Drinks
For drinks, there was only one place we went to which was Six D.O.G.S. It’s got a cool outdoor area and the drinks were stunning. Other than that after a long day we just went up to the hotel and had cocktails on the rooftop bar.
Hotel
We stayed at the St George Lycabettus Hotel, which was in a brilliant spot and had some amazing views of the city. I really recommend it and they also had a gym which was a bonus for me.
