If you know me you know how much I love to travel and explore new places, not only just for myself but it’s also a super good excuse to take my camera and get some cool snaps. This also means I’ve got soooooo many pictures just sitting on my hard drive and I thought it would be a good idea to create travel guides for places I’ve been. With food recommendations and photography hot spots.
Summer of 2017 I took a trip around Italy visiting a few cities I’ve had on my wish list. We stayed over at Lake Garda which was a perfect little spot to set up base. It’s peaceful and a stunning location, what’s also ideal about it is it’s an ideal spot to go and see other locations such as Venice, Verona and little towns around the lake. So these are my recommendations for the locations we visited.
Milan
We flew to Milan and had the afternoon there, which for me was ideal because there were other locations I wanted to spend more time at. We went and saw the Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral) which I was blown away by. This was the only part I wish we stayed longer for because I would have loved a tour inside, but genuinely just walking up to it and seeing it was enough. We also saw the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (Milan’s fancy shopping arcade), again just blown away by the beauty. However, I do feel that to fully enjoy the experience of shopping in Milan you have to have a lot more money than little me!
We stopped off for coffee and fresh pastry at PAVÉ. It had such a nice feel to it with plenty of seating and the design was beautiful and had a nice homely feel to it. Make sure you go to the right one, they also own a gelato shop which is called PAVÉ GELATI. Recommend heading there as well, with stunning interiors and beautiful gelato.
Lake Garda
It’s such a peaceful and beautiful destination and honestly, it’s amazing waking up to that view every day. In the mornings we would take the boat around the lake to visit the small towns and wander around the local restaurants for food. I also recommend getting the cable car Funivia Malcesine – Monte Baldo to get a lift up to the mountains. You really can get some stunning pictures up there.
Verona
On one of the days, we took a trip to explore Verona, which I was so impressed by. Can’t lie wasn’t high up on the priority list to visit but it ended up being one of the highlights of the trip. We went and saw the Arena di Verona, walked around Piazza Delle Erbe and took a visit to see the balcony of Casa di Giulietta (Romeo and Juliet Balcony)
Venice
Right so. Lot’s to see in Venice. Here’s a rundown of everything that we saw and my favourite spots.
St. Mark's Basilica, Piazza San Marco (St. Mark's Square), Palazzo Ducale (Doge's Palace), Bridge of Sighs, Canale Grande (Grand Canal) and Ponte di Rialto (Rialto Bridge)
With all of the cities, we just explored and stopped off for food at whatever local place was closest to us.
